Chateau Laffitte Carcasset owes its name to Joseph Laffitte, an attorney of the King of France. The estate was owned by the Laffitte family until sold in 1838 to Martin Alçuet. The property was originally named Carcasset after the “lieu-dit” it was situated on. Since its creation, the estate has taken a variation of names Carcasset-Alçuet, Carcasset-Laffitte and was finally renamed in 1898 as Laffitte-Carcasset by the new owner Jean Grillet.

In 2016, the estate was sold by the Padirac family to Pierre Rousseau. Hubert de Bouard, the famous oenologist owner of Chateau Angelus, now advises the estate, already increasing the quality of its wines. The chateau is surrounded by vineyards planted in the center of the gravellous plateau of Saint Estèphe. The parcels cover 74 acres on Garonne gravel over clay-limestone subsoil. Aging is in 30% new french oak barrels for 12 months. They produce 100,000 bottles per year.
